Israel-Gaza Conflict: US President Calls for Aid Access, Five Killed in Israeli Attack

Heavy Fighting in Gaza as Israel Battles Broad Invasion

Military Prepares for Widened Ground Offensive

The US President has urged Israel to allow full access for aid to reach Gaza for six to eight weeks, following a deadly Israeli attack on central Gaza City that killed five people and injured over 30.

As Israel continued to pound targets in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, a member of the country's war cabinet said Israel has suffered its worst combat losses in six weeks after an ambush in the ruins of Gaza.

On Saturday, Israel battled to repel one of the broadest invasions of its territory in 50 years, as Palestinian militants launched hundreds of rockets at southern Israel and its military engaged in heavy ground fighting in Gaza.

Israel has announced plans to evacuate civilians from new parts of Gaza as its military prepares for a widening ground offensive. Israeli strikes hit Gaza City and soldiers battled militants in southern Gaza on Monday, while the heads of three Arab states arrived in Qatar for talks on the crisis.
