Sean Burroughs, a former MLB player and Little League World Series champion, has died suddenly. He was 42 years old.

Burroughs was found unconscious near his car shortly after he dropped his son off for a Little League baseball game in Long Beach, California, on Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Burroughs was a two-time Little League World Series champion, winning with Long Beach Little League in 1989 and 1992. He also won an Olympic gold medal with the United States baseball team in 2000.

Burroughs was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies with the 13th overall pick in the 1998 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Phillies in 2002 and went on to play for the San Diego Padres, Tampa Bay Rays, and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Burroughs hit .257 with 59 home runs and 249 RBIs in 753 career games. He retired from baseball in 2009.
