Niskayuna High Grad Found Guilty in Federal Case

Over 10 Years in Federal Prison

A federal jury on Thursday found Niskayuna High School graduate Brandon Fellows guilty of one felony count of obstruction of an investigation. Fellows, 29, of Schenectady, was sentenced to more than 10 years in federal prison.

The Charges

Fellows was arrested in August 2022 and charged with obstruction of an investigation, tampering with evidence, and lying to federal agents. The charges stemmed from an investigation into a series of burglaries in the Schenectady area.

According to prosecutors, Fellows obstructed the investigation by hiding evidence, lying to investigators, and attempting to intimidate witnesses. He was also accused of using stolen credit cards to purchase items online.

The Verdict

After a three-week trial, the jury found Fellows guilty of one felony count of obstruction of an investigation. He was acquitted of the other charges.

The Sentence

Fellows was sentenced to 10 years and 10 months in federal prison. He will also be required to serve three years of supervised release after his release from prison.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman said that Fellows' actions "obstructed a federal investigation and put the community at risk." She added that the sentence "reflects the seriousness of his crimes and sends a message that such conduct will not be tolerated."
